Nighthawks fall on a warm afternoon

HERNDON  -- Joseph Germano tied a school record with seven goals Tuesday afternoon, the Northern Virginia Community College lacrosse team however, fell 24-10 to Region 20 foe Potomac State.

The Nighthawks drop to 1-3 on the season and are back in action Saturday for a non-region tilt at ASA.

PSC was spotted a 2-0 lead, but three straight Germano goals gave NOVA a 3-2 advantage. The Catamounts tied the game at three moments later, but Germano continued with the hot shooting as he gave the Nighthawks a lead once again.

Near the end of the first period, PSC began its heartbreaking 10-0 run, which was not halted until Germano scored with 9:19 left in the third quarter.

Germano was quick to score again for the Nighthawks as his sixth goal of the day brought the contest within eight. The Catamounts, however, put the Nighthawks dreams to bed with a 6-0 run that went nearly eight minutes.

In fourth quarter action, Prentis Siner, Christopher Worrell and Germano all scored for NOVA.

Between the pipes for the Nighthawks, Grant Bostick made 22 saves, which ranks third all-time. He was four shy of Connor Delery's 26 stops against Harford on April 21, 2015.
