Ernst Gymnasium has been the home of the Northern Virginia Community College volleyball team, along with the men’s and women’s basketball teams since 2012.

In late 2016, Ernst Gymnasium received its first facelift since opening when new bleachers and a vinyl drop down curtain were installed. The vinyl curtain provides Ernst with ability to make two volleyball courts.

In the seven seasons since the Nighthawks became a member of the NJCAA, NOVA has had a dominate home record winning 115 games between volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball.

The volleyball team has the opportunity to be the first of the three teams to win games inside its home arena. The volleyball squad is 44-21 since 2012 and average six victories per season at home.

Men’s basketball, meanwhile, is 48-26 in those same seven season and has only had one season below .500 on its home court.

The women’s basketball team has been a team for six years and averages nearly four wins per year inside Ernst Gymnasium.

The gymnasium has a Versa turf 360 urethane synthetic surface (appropriate non-marking footwear is required).
