HAGERSTOWN, Md. – With a team score of 22, the Northern Virginia Community College cross country team took home its fourth straight 5K NJCAA Region 20 Division I Championship Saturday morning as it topped Harford by 17 points.

The Nighthawks also had the top three finishers among the D-I runners, as Kmaljeet Athwal was the individual winner with a time of 20 minutes, 24 seconds.

Trailing Athwal was Abby Collins (20:45) and Emily Compton (20:46), who came in second and third. Both Collins and Compton's time were personal best and rank second and third all-time in the NOVA record book. 

Athwal, Collins and Compton were named All-NJCAA Region 20 for their efforts Saturday morning.

The Owls, meanwhile, had the next three runners cross the line before Sarah Dierlam (22:46) came in at the seventh spot, while Joanna Rohrbach was the ninth fastest runner at the Region 20 meet as she finished her run in 23:24.

Rounding out the NOVA scoring was Berith Austin and Meili Wood, who finished with a time of 25:53 and 27:28 respectively.
