Means sets personal best


WINCHESTER, Va. – Tyler Means finished 46th with a personal-best time of 22 minutes, 02.03 seconds Saturday in the 5-kilometer Hornet Harrier to lead the Northern Virginia Community College cross country team.

Salisbury won the team championship, while English Jackson of Bridgewater took home the individual title with a time of 19:07.01.

Aziza Abdela Hasenss, who was competing in her first race for the Nighthawks finished in 121st, as she clocked in at 27:37.70. 

Means, meanwhile, was the top NJCAA Region 20 runner to close out the race as she bested Sierra Walker (23:11.7) of Southern Maryland by over a minute.

The Nighthawks return to the course Saturday, Oct. 5 in the Mary Washington Invitational, which is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
