Means finishes fifth at UMW


FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Northern Virginia Community College cross country freshman Tyler Means had a personal-best time of 25 minutes, 52.00 seconds and finished fifth in Saturday's 6-kilometer Mary Washington Invitational.

Ashley Applegate of Mary Washington won the individual championship to help UMW best second place Virginia Union for the team title. The Eagles had eight of the top 10 finishes Saturday.

Means, meanwhile, led a portion of the 6k event before the Eagles made a push for the lead in the final kilometer.

Aziza Abdela Hasenss was the other Nighthawk runner, as she finished 19thand clocked in with a time of 33:19.00.
