Means finishes third at region

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Northern Virginia Community College freshman cross country runner Tyler Means set a personal-best time (21 minutes, 24.90 seconds) in Saturday's 5-kilometer NJCAA Region 20 Division I race, but finished third overall.

Khelsa Connolly of Hagerstown won the individual title, while CCBC Essex won the D-I team championship.

For her efforts, Means was named NJCAA All-Region -- becoming the 11th Nighthawk to take home the postseason honor. Means was seven-tenths of second behind second place Gabrielle Turner of CCBC Essex.

Aziza Abdela Hasenss, meanwhile, finished 21st with a season-best time of 26:18.80, which was nearly a minute faster than her time at the Hornet Harrier.
